Mastercard is planning to hire 470 people as the company expands its technology hub in New York City.
According to news from Bloomberg, a company statement with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that Mastercard will move to a new 212,000 square-foot location in Manhattan’s Flatiron District.
Mastercard, the world’s second-largest payments network — which already has 250 research, development and technology employees in New York — plans to add the new jobs by 2024. The company operates five technology hubs around the world. The others are located in St. Louis, Dublin, Sydney and India, as it seeks to transition from debit and credit cards to gadgets.
“New York is an exceptional gateway for talent, innovation and collaboration,” Ed McLaughlin, president of Operations and Technology at Mastercard, said in the statement announcing the hiring spree. “The activities in New York are a natural complement and expansion of our global effort to deliver the digital future today.”
