Mastercard and Citi are expanding their relationship to grow the City Possible network by putting their collective resources to work for the good of local residents and small businesses, according to a press release on Thursday (Oct. 7).
City Possible, Mastercard’s partnership and co-creation framework for cities, aims to foster collaboration and co-creation on a widespread scale.
“Cities need to think about how to adapt to a digital world in a way that leverages technology to bring more people into the digital economy,” said Miguel Gamino, executive vice president of enterprise partnerships and head of global cities and City Possible at Mastercard.
“Partners like Citi allow us to continue to expand the range of solutions we can provide to the City Possible network, which has already played an important role in helping to build more inclusive communities,” Gamino said.

Using Mastercard City Insights Digital Marketplace, the partnership will give members of the City Possible network access to Citi Start Saving, which enables municipal groups and nonprofits to offer extended financial services to those in underserved and low-income communities.
City Builder by Citi, also available via Mastercard City Insights Digital Marketplace, offers a no-charge platform that gathers data about community investment opportunities. The platform also includes data on more than 16,000 cities, 73,000 census tracts, 485 community development projects, and 180 funds and community development entities, according to the release.

Launched in 2018, City Possible gives members access to varied expertise and resources to tackle urban challenges. The network aims to drive collaboration and co-creation for inclusive economic development and more resilient neighborhoods.
