Meta is introducing features that let Facebook and Instagram users switch easily between multiple accounts and profiles and keep their various accounts secure, a company press release said Monday (Sept. 26).
The company says this will aid those who use more than one app, account or profile to pursue interests, reach audiences or share different parts of who they are.
A new profile-switching interface will make it easier to keep up with notifications and switch between Facebook and Instagram. Notifications will be displayed on all profiles and will help users stay up to date on activity.
In addition, Meta is debuting a new account registration and login flow to make it easier to log in or make new accounts. Meta says the features are intended to make it clear and easy to use its apps in a streamlined manner.
The company says it will prioritize account security and privacy — for example, someone using two-factor authentication for Facebook, an unrecognized device won’t be able to access their Facebook account with Instagram account information.
And people will get notifications if a new account is made using their existing account, or when an account is added to their Accounts Center.
Meta is also among the companies that has cut its staff, along with Google, PYMNTS wrote.

Meta last week began reorganizing departments, giving impacted employees time to apply for other positions at the company. The move was intended to cut staff without mass layoffs. However, PYMNTS wrote that the reductions might end up leading to a larger series of cuts while the company tries to lower its costs by 10%.
The company will see some savings from reducing overhead and looking at budgets, though the bulk of the savings will come from job cuts.
