American Express has teamed up with Chris Hemsworth’s health and fitness app, Centr, to provide card members in Australia with a free one-year subscription to the service as part of their current card benefits. The relationship marks the first partnership between the two brands worldwide, according to a Tuesday (Feb. 16) announcement emailed to PYMNTS.
“We’re giving Amex cardmembers access to Centr to provide the inspiration and motivation they need to get on top of their fitness and [prioritize] their health and well-being. By backing our cardmembers, we hope that staying fit and healthy is one goal they can all tick off their list this year,” Naysla Edwards, vice president of brand, charge cards and member experiences for American Express Australia, said in the announcement.
Cardmembers will get complete access to the health and fitness app’s experts, workout offerings, meal plans and mindfulness tools. Centr also provides members with entry into a worldwide community of nearly 50,000 members in Centr’s private Facebook group. The one-year subscription, which has a $119.99 annual value, is available to American Express cardmembers until Feb. 14, 2022, according to the announcement.
“We are delighted to welcome new members through our partnership with Amex, which is a first-of-its-kind collaboration for Centr. Our philosophy is to inspire people to look after their health holistically, arming them with the best of the best when it comes to expert fitness coaching, quality recipes and engaging mindfulness tools,” Centr CEO Zsofi Paterson said in the announcement.
The news comes as American Express is introducing new promotions for American consumers, small businesses and co-branded cardmembers, as well as small merchants, set to begin this year. Eligible U.S. consumer platinum cardmembers will obtain “even more value” via eCommerce through new promotions available up to June 30, 2021. For instance, consumer platinum cardmembers can receive statement credits with PayPal.
