Latest Coupon App Provider Ranking Points Consumers to Holiday Deals

Many consumers are finding fewer discounts as they go about their holiday shopping this year because of supply chain bottlenecks that have caused delayed shipments and increased costs that retailers are passing on in the form of higher prices.

Luckily, the PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Coupon Apps gives readers a boost in their quest for deals, and unlike previous updates, this one has quite a bit of movement — including a shuffle for the top spots.

Without further ado, and in the spirit of saving time (because, after all, time is money), let’s jump in.

The Top 5

At the top we have a big upset as the Ibotta app takes the No. 1 spot, one of the biggest movers since last month’s ranking.

That puts Groupon, long the favored coupon app, at No. 2.

And sliding to No. 3 is the PayPal-owned Honey Smart Shopping Assistant, whose new cash-back feature wasn’t enough to keep up with the competition.

Returning to the Top 5 is Rakuten Rewards, up two spots to No. 4.

And at No. 5 sits Flipp, falling two places since last month.

The Top 10

Even with higher prescription prices, the GoodRX app has fallen out of the Top 5, moving down two chart positions to No. 6.

Receipt Hog holds steady at No. 7.

But GasBuddy, despite Thanksgiving travel and elevated fuel prices, has fallen three places to No. 8, though holiday travel in the coming weeks could change things for future rankings.

The RetailMeNot app manages to move up a spot to No. 9, no longer the tail end of the Top 10.

And last, but certainly not least, is the ShopSavvy app which only just made its Top 10 debut last month. As we noted last month, it may be worthwhile to keep an eye on this one.

Only time will tell how the holidays will impact these rankings going forward.
