Feel like ordering takeout? With this month’s PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Mobile Order-Ahead Apps, which compares restaurant apps based on data about their ordering capabilities, their loyalty offerings, the amount of time users spend on the app and the number of active users, Domino’s held onto the crown, while other leaders in the space did not fare as well.
The Top Five
The Domino’s Pizza app remains in first place, while previous co-gold medalist, the Dunkin’ app, has fallen a couple spots in the ranking.
Meanwhile, the Starbucks app has held onto its place at No. 2, pulling ahead of Dunkin’, tied for third with last month’s bronze medalist Panera Bread.
Taco Bell, for its part, is holding steady at No. 4.
Meanwhile, Chick-fil-A has been unseated from the top 5, with Pizza Hut pulling ahead to reach No. 5.
The Top 10
This month, there was steep competition for that No. 7 spot.
While Chick-fil-A was the sole sixth place winner, Chipotle, Wingstop and McDonald’s all fell one spot, joining the Burger King app at No. 7.
The Papa John’s Pizza app held onto its No. 8 position, as did the Sonic Drive-In app its No. 9 position, and once again the Sheetz app closed out the Top 10 list at No. 10.
Maybe next month, if runners-up Shake Shack or Wawa’s can step up ordering channels, loyalty integration or app usage, they can squeak into the Provider Ranking of Mobile Order-Ahead Apps Top 10.
