Tikkie, a payment app offered by Dutch bank ABN AMRO, has launched a new group payments feature called “Groepie,” aiming to give users an easier way to track and settle costs from group outings.
According to a company blog post published Monday (Aug. 15), the feature will let app users invite new members while Tikkie takes care of the math, helping to cut down on arguments and disagreements.
Groepie can track “any kind” of shared costs, giving users a way to see who owes what at the end of a situation. The post noted that the feature can be used for both one-off events and long-term spending, including shared living situations.
“Tikkie is often used for settling amounts that one person has paid up front,” said Rogier Brinker, head of sales and business development at Tikkie. “With Groepie, it’s now possible to track and settle shared costs – an incredibly useful feature that many of our users have been calling for.
“This is borne out by Tikkie’s own data. More and more of the payment descriptions refer to things like ‘weekend away’, ‘baby shower’, ‘groceries’ and so on. From now on those costs can be settled very simply in Groepie.”
He added that the company thought Groepie would be “used a lot,” and noted that Tikkie saw 8 million active users this summer.
There have been a number of digital payments innovations taking place recently, and PYMNTS noted that ResTech digital platform Toast has seen a record increase in new location additions.

Toast has also seen increased demand for mobile ordering and digital solutions. The company said in its Q2 earnings release that it had a 40% increase in locations, and a 57% increase in revenues.
“With restaurants operating in a challenging environment, the benefits that Toast’s platform provides our customers are even more important, and true to our mission we are focused on helping restaurants adapt and thrive,” Toast CEO Chris Comparato said in a statement.
