Amazon is developing plans to build its own smartphone device, according to Bloomberg.
Rumors of an Amazon smartphone have been around since at least November, when a Citigroup analyst suggested the online retailer would invest in such a device. This week, Bloomberg’s Tim Culpan, Olga Kharif and Ashlee Vance say they have spoken to a source at iPhone manufacturer Foxconn, who said that the company is in talks with Amazon as well.
The device would be powered by Amazon’s own operating system, rather than Android, the report says.
