mPayment Startup Beamit Attracts Bezos, Schmidt as Investors

Beamit, a money transfer facilitator that connects the U.S. to developing markets, raised $2.4 million in seed money on Wednesday.

Founder’s Co-op led the round, and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt also participated, according to TechCrunch.

Matt Oppenheimer is Beamit’s CEO. Oppenheimer is the former head of Barclays Bank’s mobile banking unit in Kenya.
