The central banks in Kenya have been given a September 30, 2013 deadline to switch from magnetic stripes on cards to the EMV smart chip for ATM, debit and credit cards, reports ATM Marketplace. The Kenya Bankers Association is on board and agrees this transition will have a positive impact on fighting fraud at ATMs. This process will cost the Kenyan banking industry over $23.6 million.
