Pinterest has launched its first-ever API for developers, AllThingsD reported on November 14.
The tool enables stores and brands to display popular products that have been pinned by Pinterest users. Another functionality allows websites to include information about trending pins within their internal search engines.
The company has made this service available to a number of sites, including Better Homes & Gardens, BuzzFeed, Target and Walmart.
This may be welcome news for merchants looking to leverage Pinterest’s popularity, as a new study established that a single pin creates an average of 78 cents in sales.
