Almost 80 percent of supply chain business representatives view analytics as either being very or moderately important, with most intending to increase investment in the area, according to a survey by MHI, an international trade association for the material handling and logistics industry.

Some 450 companies participated in the survey, which also found the supply-chain function a step or two behind the commercial side of the business when it comes to capitalizing on the power of analytics.

The survey also found that executives are starting to view supply-chain mobility as a key strategic issue. In fact, more than half of the respondents rated supply-chain mobility and adoption of mobile-to-mobile technologies as “very important” (18 percent) or “moderately important” (35 percent).
