Pinterest, saturated with cash after their massive $200 million funding round, is rolling out a enhancement to its API platform that will help businesses understand which products are most popular, which Pins are driving the most sales, and which types of images work best, among other things, reports TechCrunch.
The new service will be offered alongside the company’s current analytics service, the business insights service may step into the space where third party contractors step in and explain to business what those analytics numbers actually mean.
Currently the new API is in limited release being tested by a hand-picked list of companies. On that list of pilot businesses are Salesforce, Spredfast, Percolate, Piqora, Curalate and Tailwind. The company says the service will not be opened up to additional developers at this time, and offers no specifics about when the business insights service will be generally available.
