Hong Kong-based startup PassKit has added another item to its mobile loyalty toolkit: a digital-wallet version of that old small-business loyalty standby, the stamp card.
PassKit’s Loopy Loyalty stamp card system is clearly aimed at cafes, coffee shops and other small enterprises that can’t afford their own custom apps. After a $199 setup fee, cards start at 100 for $15, or 15 cents per customer, with bulk discounts that bring the cost down to 5 cents per customer with quantities of 2,000, the company announced on Tuesday (Dec. 2).
For comparison, the cost of a low-end custom app starts at about $1,000 for a single platform, and climbs quickly from there.
Shopkeepers can design their own stamp cards, but they’re limited to a choice of 8, 10 or 12 stamps per card. The whole system is managed through a cloud-based dashboard, and the stamp cards work with Apple Passbook (iOS 6 or later), the Passbook-compatible Android wallets PassWallet and Pass2U, and (for an extra charge) Samsung Wallet and Google Wallet.
The stamp-card system also includes geolocation functionality, push update capabilities, and the ability to measure loyalty campaign effectiveness and deliver push notifications and updates.
