New Zealand’s Westpac says is working on a new banking app for Google Glass.
The app will allow users to check their account balance while on the go and without the need to actually log into the bank’s online system, Finextra reported on Feb. 3.
“By the end of this year our customers will be able to walk into a shop wearing their Google Glasses, see something they like and instantly check their bank balance, which will be displayed in their peripheral vision. That’s pretty cool,” Westpac’s chief digital officer for New Zealand, Simon Pomeroy, said in a statement.
Additionally, Westpac is working to integrate Apple’s iBeacon technology into its digital offerings. When a customer walks into a participating branch, the beacons will sync with the person’s mobile device and transmit special offers.
