Crowdsourced, same-day delivery company Deliv is taking on an aggressive expansion into nine new markets reaching more than 100 cities, the company announced yesterday (Aug. 3).
The expansion will provide Deliv with one of the largest same-day delivery footprints in the U.S., as retailers and mall operators continue to broaden their same-day initiatives. The company is currently behind the same-day delivery programs at more than 250 retailers, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Williams-Sonoma, Foot Locker, 1-800-Flowers and others, as well as established partnerships with numerous mall operators.
“Today’s consumers want the convenience of picking exactly when their packages will arrive — not sometime in the next two to five days or sometime before 8:00 p.m. It’s no surprise we’ve experienced an organic growth increase of 800 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year,” stated Daphne Carmeli, CEO of Deliv, in a company release.
“Deliv is more than doubling its footprint with the expansion and is enhancing the shopping experience at participating retailers across the country.”
With the expansion, Deliv will service a total of 17 markets, including Atlanta, Boston/Cambridge, Dallas/Fort Worth, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, the New York City metro area, Orange County and Philadelphia. The markets will also serve the surrounding areas and will roll out through the end of August with New York launching in early October.
Deliv positions omnichannel, brick-and-mortar, and eCommerce companies to compete against the same-day delivery options of Amazon by leveraging thousands of store locations or other local inventory facilities into delivery fulfillment centers.
Just last month, Macy’s announced plans to boost the growth of its service, with the help of Deliv, possibly putting the nation’s largest department store chain ahead of Amazon when it comes to same-day delivery markets serviced.
As of May 2, the retailer operates 886 stores throughout the U.S. from which it could potentially deliver products, resulting in packages having a much shorter distance to travel as compared to the 50 fulfillment centers and distribution facilities Amazon utilizes.
“When we piloted same-day delivery in eight markets initially last fall, we learned that our customers appreciate the additional option of having their purchase brought to their home or office in a matter of hours. It is an important part of our value proposition as an omnichannel retailer serving customers who shop our stores, websites and apps whenever, wherever and however they prefer,” Macy’s Chief Omnichannel Officer R.B. Harrison stated.
“Our ability to expand same-day delivery is rooted in local merchandise inventories at Macy’s stores, as well as a newly expanded delivery footprint of our partners at Deliv.”
