Betty DeVita has been appointed MasterCard’s chief commercial officer of payments innovation, research and development. DeVita is now tasked with bringing the technologies developed in MasterCard labs to the markets that they hope to disrupt.
MC Labs was started in 2012 as a corporate innovation center where new ideas can be developed to keep MC competitive in a rapidly evolving payments ecosystem.
In her new role, DeVita will work on developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with the end goal of bringing MC Labs products to the wider commercial marketplace. ShopThis! and Qkr! are two assets currently going through rigorous testing.” MasterCard Labs has a proven track record in generating new ideas, fast-tracking the best ideas from concept through prototype, piloting and commercializing — faster than ever before. Betty’s focus on commercialization of these ideas with existing and new partners will have a direct effect on the commerce evolution,” said Garry Lyons, chief innovation officer at MasterCard.
Previously, DeVita was the president of MasterCard Canada. She will be replaced in that capacity by Brian Lang, market development lead for Middle East and Africa.
