New Rental Car Program A B2B First

The consumer-facing rental car industry is lucrative, to say the least, and is considered the norm for vacation and travel. But behind the scenes, companies that want to facilitate car rentals to their consumers have fewer options.

In what it describes as a first for B2B, rental car booking platform rentalcars.com announced late last week that it has now launched Rentalcars Connect, an online platform for airlines, online travel agencies and other travel industry corporations to access the rental car inventory. The company calls the new offering a first for the B2B car rental market.

Perhaps the most prominent selling point of the process is that Rentalcars Connect allows businesses that wish to source their rental vehicles through the platform can do so under their own brand. The companies can access vehicles in the 180 countries in which Rentalcars operates, and the platform provides services in more than 40 languages to accommodate this global market.

According to the Managing Director of rentalcars.com, Peter Rooney, the platform will allow companies to access a new range of rental car offerings for their own customers. “By creating a solution in Rentalcars Connect, our B2B team can provide dedicated partner support and continue working on innovative ways to provide the best solutions to our partners,” he said, adding that the company now has more than 50 airline partners alone.

According to Rentalcars Direct Director Ady Guthrie, the service also offers flexibility on both ends other transaction. Some companies prefer to manage their own customers who rent a vehicle sourced from Rentalcars Direct, while others want Rentalcars Direct to manage the entire customer process. The new unit, reports said, will allow Rentalcars Direct to provide whatever type of support businesses may need.
