IT spend management solutions provider vCom Solutions is upgrading its mobile app for iOS and Android devices, the company said this week.
A press release stated that vCom’s vManager Mobile App is getting a new release that enhances the ability for IT managers and decision makers to increase their visibility into operations and expenses. The app update follows recent enhancements to vCom’s desktop vManager software solution.
According to the company, the latest app version increases how much data IT managers can access related to performance, contracts, services and assets. New features also include what vCom describes as a “Google-like search function” for IT managers to be able to easily access data they need to track costs and assets, including inventory, orders and tickets, as it relates to their IT procure-to-pay processes.
Users can view a streamlined visual into bandwidth utilization across services provided by vCom to ensure uptime is not disrupted, vCom said. The company also changed the app’s interface and login process to support iPhone’s Touch ID and Face ID solutions.
“As one of the first IT spend firms to build a mobile app for our industry, I am proud of how our software and app has evolved over time, improving as we learn more about our customers’ needs and desires for more efficient IT spend management,” said vCom CIO Adam Shawley in a statement.
Researchers have found that increases in corporate investments in IT, including software-as-a-service, have presented new challenges to managing spend. A report released in 2016 from 1E found that only 40 percent of SaaS can be tracked by IT managers or professionals responsible for IT spend.
“The gap between the spend that IT is aware of, and the spend that it isn’t, is where software is going unmanaged,” said Eric Christopher, CEO of Zylo, in an interview with PYMNTS earlier this year. “This leads to unnecessary spend and security gaps.”
