Foundation Software Debuts Mobile Invoicing For Service Technicians

Construction accounting technology developer Foundation Software, LLC has introduced a mobile billing function just for its Service Dispatch mobile program, according to a Monday (Jan. 4) announcement.

The functionality, which is called SD Mobile Billings, is meant to assist technicians in creating and handling invoices more efficiently by taking in clients’ payment data straight from their mobile devices. Moreover, the new functionality lets both parties view and sign invoices right away.

Foundation Software Vice President of Operations Mike Basil said in the announcement that the app has historically performed well at monitoring labor and materials and finishing the call, but until now it couldn’t perform the billing function.

“Payment details can now be entered directly into the app. This lets the customer review and approve the work at the time of completion, eliminating discrepancies down the road. And it’s very easy to use,” Basil said in the announcement.

SD Mobile Billings generates an invoice in the app without intervention when preparing a payment from a mobile device. The invoice comes with an in-depth line item and labor breakdown for each service call.

While the new features will bolster the billing workflow for all customers, according to the company, they are particularly useful for service contractors – such as those who work in the HVAC, electrical or mechanical verticals – who require expedient billing options outside of the office.

Foundation Software provides job cost accounting, mobile applications and project management, as well as payroll services, to assist contractors in operating the business part of construction projects.

Separately, Palette Software revealed in August a cloud-based accounts payable (AP) automation technology designed for companies in the construction and engineering verticals. Palette enables these companies to quickly ingest invoice data from vendors, handle bills with an automated approvals flow and offer a trail for auditors.
