The business spend management (BSM) firm Coupa has launched a new app marketplace to give customers an easier way to use its platform.
The company said in a news release Monday (Aug. 16) that the Coupa App Marketplace will let customers “tap into a trusted global community” of BSM partners and spend smarter.
“Companies have emerged from the pandemic with a newfound appreciation for managing spend effectively and comprehensively,” said Roger Goulart, executive vice president, alliances and business development. “Coupa’s BSM platform is a core system of record for them, with the expectation that it can be extended to deliver even more value.”
Based in San Mateo, California, Coupa was founded in 2006 and has offices around the world. In an interview with PYMNTS earlier this year, Coupa Executive Vice President Ravi Thakur said systems to remove manual financial transactions are quickly gaining adoption.
“The way we’re going to look at how companies move money five or 10 years from now, it’s not going to be a differentiator or an exception,” he said. “Right now, we’re providing a differentiator for organizations in terms of how they want to operate. But that’s evolving. That’s how businesses should operate.”

Coupa says their marketplace is the first such tool “in the comprehensive BSM space” that extends customers’ existing tech stack and adds to their BSM capabilities, allowing them to share information, automate workflows and carry out essential tasks.
These solutions include things like supply chain insights, supplier risk management and travel, expense and IT management.
The company says the Coupa App Marketplace also “offers an expanded go-to-market opportunity” for its partners to grow and innovate using BSM. It contains an evolving number of apps for several business functions, from partners that include Kofax, Vertex, SourceDay, Per Angusta, The Smart Cube, EcoVadis and SecurityScorecard.
