Japan’s Aso Says G7 Should Talk Digital Currencies
Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso has expressed an interest in discussing central bank digital currencies (CBDC) at a virtual Group of Seven (G7) meeting set for Friday (Feb. 12), a report from the Mainichi says. Aso told a press conference ahead of upcoming talks by G7 finance ministers and central bank officials that he thought it was “important for us to thrash out (policy measures regarding) digital currency issued by central banks,” the report says.
