Photon Energy Debuts B2B eCommerce Platform for Solar Industry in CEE

Photon Energy Technology

Solar technology component wholesale distributor Photon Energy Technology has launched a B2B eCommerce platform for its photovoltaic installer (PV) customers in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) markets.

The new platform is designed to complement the company’s traditional sales channels, grow and diversify its customer base, and enable PV installers to complete transactions more quickly and with less cost, the distributor’s parent company, Photon Energy Group, said Wednesday (Nov. 23) in a press release.

“The platform aims to digitally transform the way we engage with our distribution channels and to increase transparency and the ease of doing business for our brand partners and customers,” Photon Energy Group CEO Georg Hotar said in the release.

The platform enables B2B customers to browse a wide range of PV components from a variety of brands, see real-time information about product availability and pricing, learn about special offers, and track and trace orders in real time. It can be accessed via desktop and mobile devices, according to the press release.

“Our new platform is a key strategic element in fortifying our position as a leading supplier of PV modules, inverters and batteries across the CEE region at a time of explosive growth in demand,” Hotar said in the release.

PYMNTS research has found that the use of B2B eCommerce is rising, driven in part by the digitally savvy millennials who are moving into managerial positions with purchasing authority.

Comfortable with digital payment and self-service capabilities, these B2B buyers have more or less abandoned traditional modes of purchasing goods, according to “The New Singularity,” a PYMNTS and USEND collaboration.

Because B2B transactions often carry a higher price tag than B2C transactions, online merchants need to double down on building trust and high-touch payment experiences while still capitalizing on the efficiency that digitization affords, the report said.
