Hokodo and BNP Paribas have partnered on a B2B buy now, pay later (BNPL) solution.
This solution will use Hokodo’s B2B BNPL platform and BNP Paribas’ broad expertise and financial strength to enable large multinational corporates to offer their business customers payment alternatives, the companies said in a Wednesday (March 15) press release.
“Historically, B2B eCommerce has been critically underserved, but with our combined strengths, BNP Paribas and Hokodo are going to offer BNPL options to more business buyers than ever,” Hokodo Co-founder and Co-CEO Louis Carbonnier said in the release.
B2B payments are fueling the uptake of BNPL in Europe.
As PYMNTS reported Feb. 3, the explosion of the BNPL concept has primarily centered on the business-to-consumer (B2C) sector but, in recent years, B2B BNPL has been gaining traction.
The flurry of activity in the space — including funding rounds and partnerships — suggests that there is plenty of demand from businesses for flexible payment solutions.
The B2B BNPL solution offered by Hokodo and BNP Paribas can be integrated into sellers’ existing checkout systems via application programming interface (API) and offers a variety of financing options to meet the merchants’ needs, according to the press release.
For B2B buyers, the solution provides a fully digital experience, instant buyer approval, a frictionless purchasing experience and advantageous credit terms, the release said.
“After decades of successful development of our European factoring franchise, we are thrilled to announce a new generation solution for our customers wishing to increase their B2B digital sales,” Lionel Joubaud, global head of the factoring filière at BNP Paribas, said in the release. “Together with Hokodo, BNP Paribas brings the best of its cash management and factoring expertise to offer this state-of-the-art buy now, pay later solution.”
This collaboration comes about two months after the news that Hokodo has partnered with Lemonway, a firm that provides services for reconciling payments and helping platforms with payment regulations compliance, to help B2B marketplaces in Europe offer B2B BNPL online.
“Together, we have the potential to create tomorrow’s European champions in a market that is expected to grow by 194% in 2025,” Lemonway founder Antoine Orsini said Jan. 18 when announcing the partnership.
