Philadelphia-based delivery company Gopuff on Thursday (Aug. 12) signed a definitive agreement to acquire European delivery platform Dija, the second time Gopuff has gone overseas to expand its global reach, following its recently announced acquisition of U.K.-based Fancy.
The Dija deal gives Gopuff a foothold in France and Spain and broadens its reach in the U.K. Dija has dozens of micro-fulfillment centers in London, Paris, Madrid, Valencia and other European cities. The two acquisitions will allow Gopuff to use 40 European micro-fulfillment centers to meet customers’ needs as it mulls more acquisitions across the continent.
Gopuff’s acquisition of Dija is expected to close within 30 days, subject to customary closing conditions.
Gopuff recently appointed Steven Harman, former Revolut chief operating officer, as its senior vice president of European operations and Alex Ootes, former VP of EU category management and expansion at Amazon, as its vice president of European category management and product.

The company is valued at about $15 billion — up from $8.9 billion in March — after raising $1 billion in its most recent funding round, with Guggenheim Investments, Hedosophia and SoftBank Vision Fund 1 among the prominent investors.
Gopuff will use the latest funds to continue its expansion in North America, the U.K. and Europe and for hiring and technology investments. The company added essential item delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic to food, alcohol and medicine deliveries through a partnership with Uber Technologies.
Gopuff launched Gopuff Kitchen, which brings freshly cooked food to customers using mobile kitchens and micro-fulfillment centers, in a number of U.S. cities, including Philadelphia, Miami, Nashville, Phoenix and Austin, with plans to add more locations by the end of the year.
The company also acquired app-only coffee shop Bandit last year, and earlier this year acquired Liquor Barn, an independent chain out of Kentucky that sells beer, wine and liquor.
GoPuff, which added fleet management company rideOS for multimodal and shorter deliveries, is mulling going public later this year, according to a Reuters report.
