Instacart is now providing same-day delivery from 1,500 PetSmart stores in the United States.
The expansion of this partnership into the U.S. follows the successful launch of the offering from 150 PetSmart stores in Canada, the companies said in a Tuesday (May 2) press release.
“By expanding our Instacart partnership into the U.S., we are further enhancing our unrivaled shopping experience, providing even more convenience and accessibility to help pet parents quickly get products and solutions for pets of all species,” PetSmart Senior Vice President of Digital Cherise Ordlock said in the release.
PYMNTS research has found that when choosing merchants, 33% of consumers consider it very or extremely important for a merchant to offer a mobile app for making purchases for delivery or pickup.
In addition, 2% of consumers consider that to be the most important shopping feature, according to the “2023 Global Digital Shopping Index: U.S. Edition,” a PYMNTS and Cybersource collaboration.
The report also found that 69% of eCommerce shoppers received their most recent purchase by delivery, while 18% got it via curbside pickup and 14% used in-store pickup.
With this collaboration, customers can shop on the PetSmart storefront on the Instacart website or app, choose a delivery time frame, and have their order picked and delivered by an Instacart shopper, according to the press release.
Even large items like dog crates, cat towers and aquariums can be delivered to the customer’s doorstep because the partnership includes Instacart’s Big & Bulky fulfillment solution, the release said.
“From food and toys to grooming supplies, we’re excited to partner with PetSmart to deliver a seamless shopping experience for pet owners across America and make their lives easier and their pets happier with just a few clicks,” Instacart Chief Business Officer Chris Rogers said in the release.
As PYMNTS reported in March, pet parents are willing to go to great lengths to ensure that their pets receive the best possible care and attention.
With the pet care industry projected to reach a value of $230 billion by 2030, companies are continuing to invest in pet essentials and compete for market share.
