Open Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) eCommerce platform BigCommerce has announced its integration with Digital River, which works in global commerce, to offer mid-market to enterprise merchants with a commerce solution, according to a Wednesday (Feb. 23) press release.
The solution will manage payments, tax, fraud and compliance, and will simplify cross-border selling and boost global expansion.
Additionally, merchants can integrate Digital River’s Merchant of Record business model to help out with risks and maximize conversions through localized checkouts. This will allow merchants to deploy entry into new markets more quickly and do cross-border selling easier.
BigCommerce CEO Brent Bellm said cross-border eCommerce’s quick growth will allow for more companies to benefit.
“Our partnership with Digital River provides the global commerce solutions needed to go to market faster, at a lower cost and without the risk and complexities typically associated with cross-border commerce,” Bellm said in the release.
“Delivering localized checkout experiences and reconciling international sales can be daunting and burdensome,” said Adam Coyle, CEO at Digital River. “To remove these complexities, we’ve teamed with BigCommerce to manage the financial and legal responsibilities of cross-border selling on behalf of BigCommerce merchants to help them simplify operations and accelerate global expansion at less cost.
“Together we’re doing the heavy lifting so merchants can focus on what’s most important — global growth.”
BigCommerce recently broadened its reach into Germany, Mexico and Spain, a PYMNTS report said, which will let merchants grow their direct-to-consumer (D2C) and business-to-business (B2B) platforms around the world.

That expansion will add omnichannel capabilities there and will follow the launch in Italy, France and the Netherlands.
Meghan Stabler, the vice president of international marketing with BigCommerce, said a robust and flexible eCommerce platform which can grow with business needs “is critical for merchants to gain solid footing in today’s increasingly digital world.”
She said the solution will get businesses ready to work with the evolving marketplace.
