So far, ice cream is one of those things that doesn’t translate well across the digital divide of modern commerce. Even with same-day shipping, there’s nothing like walking out of an ice cream shoppe with both hands wrapped around a cone — well, one hand, considering Baskin-Robbins‘ new app.

The iconic ice cream franchise announced on Monday (Aug. 1) that it had released its first-ever mobile app for iPhone and Android users. In addition to early access to special deals — and a coupon for a free 4 oz. scoop upon initial download — Baskin-Robbins’ app will also allow customers to set any dietary preferences or restrictions and to pay without pulling out cards or cash.

It’s a step forward that SVP of U.S. and Canada Weldon Spangler said will make the Baskin-Robbins experience even sweeter.

“At Baskin-Robbins, we take pride in delighting guests with our wide variety of ice creams and frozen treats, and we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to enhance the guest experience and to further connect with our customers,” Spangler said in a statement. “We are excited to introduce our new mobile app to guests nationwide, which includes a range of features, including special mobile offers, mobile payment and information about our products. We hope guests will celebrate our launch by downloading the app and enjoying a free regular scoop of their favorite Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor on us.”
