On-demand home services provider Handy has made its installation services available to Lowe’s customers, according to a press release.
The release stated Lowe’s customers will be able to access Handy’s services for “plumbing, garage door openers, lighting fixtures, window air conditioner units and more,” under Handy’s flexible pricing and scheduling.
In addition, the company clarified that it has also implemented safety standards for the pandemic.
“We are very excited to be bringing our trusted install options to Lowe’s customers nationwide,” said Handy CEO and Co-Founder Oisin Hanrahan, according to the release. “Handy continues to be the installer of choice for leading retail brands. Together with Lowe’s, we’re bringing more installation options to consumers that want to make their homes safer and more convenient as we all spend more time at home during this challenging time.”
Home improvement is seeing a surge in popularity during the pandemic, with online home remodeling platform Houzz reporting a 58 percent increase in home improvement project leads for installing pools, decks, spas, patios and more while people largely remain home during the pandemic, PYMNTS reported.
Outdoor projects, according to the report, are particularly popular, with pool supply distributor Poolcorp seeing its stock hit $332.17 earlier this year, an all-time high.
The Home Depot and Lowe’s have seen abundant activity as well, with reports from those companies showing strong sales ahead of analysts’ projections. Lowe’s CEO Marvin Ellison said the rising sales could be attributed to consumers’ new focus on improving their homes and getting necessary repairs and maintenance done. He added that the company had seen more sales, too, because customers were largely spending less on other things.
In addition, buy now, pay later (BNPL) services have bolstered home improvement projects, offering flexible solutions, while the temporary store closures early in the year boosted online sites and programs.
