Noble, Square Team Up On Concessions Payments For Live Events

Digital commerce and marketing platform Noble has linked up with payments company Square to provide online payment processing of food and drink orders for live events. The Noble platform will be available on the Square App Marketplace.

The two companies said in a Wednesday (May 26) press release that Square’s point of sale (POS) setup will combine both back- and front-of-the-house operations to help live event businesses securely and easily process payments.

“We are excited to partner with Square to help them assist live event sellers in simplifying their concession sales and grow their business,” Noble Co-Founder Matt Draper said in the announcement.

“We see a great deal of value in partnering with Noble as live event owners look to return to a post-pandemic operating environment where mobile ordering is becoming a standard procedure and expected option for customers,” said Gabriella Hernandez, head of partner management at Square. The partnership “allows our sellers to offer their customers the best possible experience with reduced waiting times for drinks and food, and more intuitive menu options — which ultimately lead to more orders and happier customers.”

The release said that the Noble and Square setup will be used first at the Long Center in Austin, Texas by Spectrum Concessions.

In 2019, Square said it was partnering with the Washington Nationals and Levy Restaurants to let fans order concession menu items right from their seats. The test concept was to let fans can use the Square-owned Caviar app and the Square POS terminal to order everything from food to beer and wine — right from the stands.

Square this week indicated it was planning to expand its financial services offerings to its clients. That is, it would operate more like a traditional bank. The goal is to offer customers checking and savings accounts.
