International movie theater chain Cinépolis has increased its transaction success rate by 6% with a Click to Pay program.
The program — which features Mastercard Click to Pay and was implemented by Payments Orchestration platform Spreedly — lets customers pay securely without having to manually enter their card details at each checkout or provide a username and password, Spreedly said in a Wednesday (Feb. 22) press release.
“For our customers, speed of the transaction is critical when purchasing tickets for new releases where seats are reserved for a small amount of time during checkout,” Cinépolis Global Head of Digital Transformation and Customer Experience Marco Garcia de la Cruz said in the release. “Built into a payments stack that includes Payments Orchestration and Master Card Click to Pay, Cinépolis customers now get a fast, secure payment alternative and a better checkout experience.”
PYMNTS research has found that payments orchestration systems are critical for preventing payment method declines by integrating new payment methods and different payment gateways in a seamless and customer-friendly way.
If a given payment gateway is offline, the system will automatically route the payment through a new gateway and complete the transaction without any intervention from either the merchant or the customer, according to the “Payments Orchestration Playbook,” a PYMNTS and Spreedly collaboration.
This drives decline rates down to acceptable levels, the report said.
Click to Pay allows its consumers to tokenize their card at any merchant that accepts it as a form of payment so that it is securely stored and can be retrieved for purchase by a series of application programming interface (API) calls, according to the press release.
It provides consumers with a seamless checkout experience while using any network card, digital channel or device, the release said.
“An effective payments strategy must include the right mix of payment methods to address customer preferences, regional payment needs and a host of other considerations,” Spreedly said in the release. “Payments Orchestration facilitates the integration to supplemental and local payment methods (LPMs), as well as alternatives to manual guest checkout like Click to Pay, providing a comprehensive set of payment options for global merchants.”
