Ottawa, Canada-based logistics marketplace GoFor Industries has rolled out a “Shop Local” initiative in Washington, D.C.; Nashville, Tennessee; Memphis, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Baltimore, Maryland, according to a Wednesday (Feb. 24) announcement.

GoFor Industries CEO Brad Rollo said in the announcement that the company has seen a dramatic rise in demand for dependable, same-day delivery as customers make more purchases through eCommerce and anticipate quick delivery.

“Businesses are under more threat than ever, and same-day delivery is table stakes in order to compete and stay open,” Rollo said, noting that the company’s commerce and logistics system specializes in trucks of all sizes that can provide in-person local delivery in up to three hours on the same day.

The first 100 companies in each city that apply and are eligible for the program will get five complimentary deliveries to try out the GoFor same-day delivery service with their local clientele. In addition, GoFor can offer signage and online marketing tools to help these companies communicate that they are open and can offer same-day delivery.

According to GoFor, the company delivers “hundreds of thousands” of parcels, packages, cumbersome building materials and furniture annually for businesses. “We level the playing field for everyone from the small mom-and-pop store to the big boxes, who all need to find a way to meet the shipping needs of their customers,” Rollo stated.

In separate retail logistics news, Walgreens is expanding its on-demand delivery offerings for Illinois residents with the help of Instacart. Shoppers can now receive tens of thousands of Walgreens favorites like over-the-counter pharmaceuticals, household essentials and convenience items in as little as 60 minutes. The Walgreens/Instacart service will expand in future weeks to markets like Southeast Florida, Dallas, Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and New York City.
