Flash has launched an email domain designed for online shoppers.
By downloading the Flash app and establishing an @flash.co email account, shoppers can keep their inbox free of emails that aren’t related to their purchases and related information, view order tracking, get spam protection and earn rewards anywhere they shop, Flash founder Ranjith Boyanapalli said in a Wednesday (March 22) post on LinkedIn.
“We are super excited to unveil @flash.co — a unique shopping email ID made exclusively for power shoppers,” Boyanapalli said in the post. “It is a category defining product on shopping identity, which we believe is an apt enabler for the eCommerce ecosystem at this juncture.”
Boyanapalli is a former senior vice president of Flipkart, and Flash raised $5.8 million in a seed round in November 2022, according to multiple media reports.
The app is being launched in India initially and it targets the 25 million “power shoppers” who account for a major share of the country’s eCommerce market, TechCrunch reported Wednesday.
PYMNTS research has found that digital incentives boost customer loyalty, with rebates, loyalty programs and other rewards for making purchases encouraging shoppers to buy more.
The intensely competitive world of online and in-person retail forces every player in the space to pull out all the stopsto stand out above the competition, and customers’ demand for these incentives has grown increasingly digital as their shopping activities have moved online, according to the “Expanding Payments Choice Playbook,” a PYMNTS and Onbe collaboration.
Users of an @flash.co ID receive personalized offers and cash back on purchases, a rewards program and Flash coins that they earn with purchases and can redeem for cash, according to the Flash website.
In addition, the smart inbox provided by Flash separates promotional spam from emails related to orders, delivers insights that can help with future shopping and supplies order updates, the website said.
“We’ve engineered @flash.co to solve the major pain points of power shoppers of today — right from the absence of a rewarding shopping experience, to losing track of orders, to cluttered personal space from endless promotional emails,” Flash said in an earlier post on LinkedIn.
