A new cybersecurity firm, CyberVista, debuted yesterday (Jan. 6) during the CES CyberSecurity Forum at CES 2016 in Las Vegas and aims to help organizations reduce the risk of cyberattacks through education and workforce development. CyberVista is a wholly owned subsidiary of Graham Holdings Company and sister company to Kaplan.

The company said it will use personalized training programs to support organizations with the people, knowledge and skills needed to better detect and mitigate cyberthreats, as well as protect critical assets.

“We see an enormous opportunity in cybersecurity education and workforce development,” Timothy O’Shaughnessy, president and CEO of Graham Holdings Company, explained in a press release.

“There is a documented cyber workforce shortage that continues to grow. With the strength of our company, coupled with the world-class education expertise gleaned from Kaplan, CyberVista is well-equipped to meet this critical need in the market.”

The approach CyberVista employs will draw from Kaplan’s knowledge of personalized learning, assessment and online delivery, along with programs developed by cybersecurity professionals.

“As organizations increasingly rely on technology for all aspects of their operations, their risk for cyberattack grows significantly larger,” Amjed Saffarini, CEO of CyberVista, said. “Cyberthreats are becoming more frequent and more sophisticated, as are the security products and technologies designed to protect against them. However, technology tools alone do not alleviate the problem of unsecured processes and people.”

“We believe that a well-trained force of security professionals working together with cyber-literate executives and security-aware employees is an organization’s most critical line of defense. We intend to deliver the education and training required to create that kind of workforce,” Saffarini added.
