Shopify and Spotify have joined forces. The eCommerce platform announced on Wednesday (Oct. 20) that it had launched a new Spotify channel. This will allow artists using the music streaming platform to engage with listeners and to market products that “expand beyond traditional merch,” Shopify said on its website.
“‘Creator’ is a term that has grown to encompass anyone harnessing their talent to create content and build a community,” the company said. “Today, the creator economy is estimated to be approximately 50 million strong, and reportedly worth over $100 billion.”
Shopify says the partnership will give artists the freedom to go beyond music and traditional merchandise to create a “fully realized business.”

Spotify lets artists introduce products in a place where their fans are already engaging with their music. By pairing their Spotify for Artists accounts and their Shopify stores, musicians can sync their product catalogs and showcase the items of their choice on their Spotify artist profiles, giving fans an easier shopping experience.
“With the launch of my debut album ‘Juno,’ being able to display my newest merch directly on Spotify where my fans are already listening is huge,” said Remi Wolf, musician, producer and entrepreneur. “I’m creating music, but I’m also building a business, a brand and a community. My merch is another way for me to be creative and to connect with my listeners so that they feel a part of this journey.”

The announcement comes on the heels of Shopify’s new partnership with a series of enterprise resource planning (ERP) providers to provide direct integrations into the Shopify App Store.
Shopify announced the partnership last week, saying the Global ERP program will allow brands like Heinz, Schwinn and Lord & Taylor to use a centralized system that connects their commerce platform to financial and inventory data.
The program will also give merchants access to a suite of apps directly integrated with Shopify, thereby removing the need for third-party implementations to connect ERP resources.
