Last month, Perfect Corp., an artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) beauty and fashion tech firm, launched a virtual try-on tool for the beauty brand Sally Hansen.
Now, the company is trying something new: a virtual try-on NFT (nonfungible token) collection, allowing consumers to interact with these digital assets.
“The innovation uses augmented reality technology to create next-generation NFTs, setting it apart from the currently available image, video and audio formats,” Perfect Corp. said in a news release Wednesday (March 9). “The solution also enables beauty and fashion brands to deliver this new NFT experience to their customers through their own digital channels, for example on a brand’s website or apps.”
The company said it will showcase the tool at the annual SXSW conference, set to kick off Friday (March 11) in Austin, Texas.

The tool will let consumers virtually try on assets from a number of fashion and beauty categories, including makeup, jewelry, glasses and nail art.
The company said this streamlines NFT creation and gives brands an easier way to release wearable NFTs amid the rising demand for these virtual products.
“As the retail world embraces the Metaverse, AR technology will be essential to create personalized and immersive experiences,” said Perfect Corp. CEO and founder Alice Chang.
She added that the move will provide “beauty and fashion brands with new revenue stream opportunities, while providing customers with an interactive and personalized element that has not been possible in the NFT space until now.”
Sally Hansen’s parent company Coty had formed an agreement with Perfect Corp in late 2021. The Sally Hansen project was their first collaboration, although the company has spoken of other tools down the road, including online skin diagnostics and data-driven personalization.
