Ex-Visa executive Shawn Sinner will take the reins as president and chief revenue officer for MOCA, which provides mobile-first digital accounts on its card-based platform, a press release said Wednesday (June 1).
Sinner’s job will consist of managing marketing, sales and business development, strategy and direction of the company.
Sinner’s past experience includes six years at Visa as senior director of financial institution and FinTech solution sales. He was president and founder of Crystal Clear Payments, which worked in debit and credit processing.
He also has another 20 previous years of experience in senior sales management and executive roles.
“I became acquainted with MOCA’s technology payment stack through my time at Visa and my preexisting relationship with John Burns,” said Sinner. “After a short retirement hiatus from Visa, when John approached me about joining MOCA, I couldn’t resist. MOCA’s solutions are unique in its space, and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of what we believe to be an industry game-changing experience.”
MOCA CEO John Burns, saying he’s known Sinner for more than 15 years, said he was an “expert” in payments.
“His overall payments experience as well as his tenure at Visa made this an easy decision when MOCA was looking for someone to help guide its growth in this space,” Burns said.

MOCA debuted an online payment assistant browser extension, called Mia, in August 2021.
Users can choose an existing card from a browser or make one-time numbers through the app to pay.
The tool is able to be downloaded for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer.
Burns is quoted as saying this would add more convenience for customers and more wallet share for banks and credit unions. He said it also adds more security, and the company wants to make sure that cardholders have tools to keep their money and information safe.
