Amazon Calls UK Grocer-Label Decision ‘Chilling’

Amazon is now considered a grocer in the U.K. and will be subject to the same rules and regulations as other supermarkets, a decision the eCommerce giant called “chilling.” The decision was handed down by the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on Wednesday (Feb. 9) and compliance will be overseen by the independent Groceries Code Adjudicator.

Leaning on Loyal Customers, Chipotle Raises Prices at Nearly Twice the Rate of Inflation

Chipotle Mexican Grill’s recent price increase successes are testament to the affinity the brand has built with its fans. In December, the Newport Beach, California-based fast-casual giant, which has nearly 3,000 locations across five countries, increased prices by 4%, leading to a total year-over-year increase of about 10%.

McDonald’s New Special Sauce? McMetaverse, With 10 Trademarks Already Filed

With over 39,000 eateries in more than 100 countries and territories, McDonald’s is making plans to go where no hamburger joint has gone before — the metaverse. To ensure its virtual real estate in the virtual universe that’s still 10 years in the making, the Golden Arches filed at least 10 trademarks for its name, logo, McCafe and the rights to various goodies, according to a tweet from Josh Gerben, a trademark attorney and founder of Gerben Intellectual Property.
