Interactive fitness platform Peloton and athletic apparel manufacturer Adidas are teaming up to develop a new line of sports apparel and lifestyle gear that is set to hit stores and websites next week.
The Adidas x Peloton SS21 collection of performance wear and lifestyle apparel was created with Peloton instructors Ally Love, Robin Arzón and Cody Rigsby. The fitness teachers participated in the design process in a co-creation model. This is the first instructor-designed global-level collaboration at Peloton.
“There was so much that went into this collection! You can see each of our personalities shine through. This community is an inspiration to us, and we made this so that anyone can feel confident and empowered every time they wear one of these pieces,” said Arzón. The styles were designed with inclusivity in mind and created with performance technology for intense workouts.
“Never aim to fit in. Always be willing to stand out. That is us setting precedence. That is us encouraging everyone to uniquely be themselves and celebrate differences,” said Love.
The launch of the apparel line coincides with the release of a new series of on-demand classes, available now on the Peloton Bike, Bike+ and the Peloton App. A live class is planned to celebrate the collection’s drop on March 25.
“My inspiration for the Adidas x Peloton collection was rooted in self-love and inspiring others to do the same. This is a versatile collection that encourages our members to work out how they want to, when they want to,” said Rigsby.
Adidas announced earlier this month that it is planning to double its eCommerce presence across the next five years. The German athletic apparel company also is upping its sustainability practices and working to attract more women into its business fold.
In an earnings call last month, Peloton posted its first $1 billion quarter. However, issues with inventory and logistics will eat into 2021 revenues due to higher expenses. The company saw unprecedented demand as the world shut down in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Treadmills scheduled for March delivery won’t happen until May.
Peloton teamed up with Beyonce in November 2020 in a multi-year deal. The initial launch happened during the annual homecoming celebration for students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
