As the beauty industry recovers from the pandemic, Square Appointments, an all-in-one scheduling service for beauty and personal care, is rolling out new products to help book more appointments and grow services, according to a company blog post.
The new services include updates for Square Online, which will let merchants make new, integrated websites that come with omnichannel capabilities to sell items, and which can be designed to match aesthetics, the post stated.
There will also be commission rates available for companies, allowing them to set rates for retail items and services, which will then be automatically uploaded to Square Payroll, according to the post.
Finally, there will be a new feature letting companies book services during gap times, which will streamline bookings and help businesses make more money, the post stated.
“This past year has tested beauty and personal care businesses and required them to rethink how they operate and interact with clients,” said Square Executive Vice President Alyssa Henry in the post. “Merchants in this industry need robust solutions that enable them to grow their presence in an already competitive market. We’re continuing to build advanced features for Square Appointments that set the standard for what the beauty industry needs and expects from their POS provider.”
The post noted that Square has recently marked its 200 millionth booking for the first half of 2021.
In other Square news, the company is expanding in the kitchen and order management space by making its Square KDS available as a stand-alone product, PYMNTS reported. The goal is to stay updated with restaurants’ needs and make a more advanced point-of-sale (POS) product.
Square KDS was previously only available as part of the Square for Restaurants Plus Plan. With KDS, companies can access an on-screen interface to track and organize orders.
