We stream so much TV that we’ve started expecting a notification that says something like “you have now watched all known TV shows. Go back and hit restart.”
This hasn’t happened yet. Probably means we’re not streaming enough TV.
It’s not for lack of guidance, which is ably supplied each month by PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Streaming Apps. We’re not like the TV Guide, but rather more like a streaming TV app Sherpa.
With that visual in mind, pack your yak and let’s see how the streaming apps are faring.
The Top Five
Things are quiet — maybe too quiet — at the summit, with category killer Netflix still at No. 1.
Google doesn’t like to be far from the action, which helps explain YouTube hanging on at No. 2.
Climbing a spot, it’s The Mighty Mouse in the form of the Disney+ streaming app, now at No. 3.
Speaking of spots, Spotify drops one spot to take No. 4 this time around.
Flywheeling at No. 5, it’s Amazon Prime Video, completing the Top Five for this cycle.
The Top 10
Tumbling out of the Top Five to take No. 6 this time around, it’s the Pluto TV app.
The Hulu app also takes a spill, falling one chart position to No. 7.
At No. 8 — and also dropping a spot — we’ve got the Amazon Music app.
While admitting that we don’t totally understand its relationship to the Paramount+ streaming app, CBS — Full Episodes and Live TV recently debuted on PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Streaming Apps and here it is still, rising to take the No. 9 slot this month.
We go out with a twitch, literally, as the Twitch: Live Game Streaming app drops two chart positions to close out this edition of the Top 10 at No. 10.
This could make a great streaming series. We’re thinking “Ranking Rangers” maybe? Or not.
