Comdata will launch the “next evolution” of its convenience store point-of-sale (POS) solution this spring.
The new Comdata CStore POS and payment solution will integrate GK’s cloud and store technology to deliver solutions that are innovative and flexible, the companies said in a Tuesday (March 21) press release.
“The innovative Comdata CStore will allow us to enter new markets with a premier solution while continuing to provide the excellence that our current customers have come to expect,” FLEETCOR Vice President of Merchant Services Matthew Miller said in the release. “Future and current customers will have access to the most innovative and flexible solutions for both retail and commercial payments and much more.”
Comdata is a FLEETCOR company.
Designed for convenience stores and truck stops of all sizes, the new Comdata CStore will be available in a choice of self-service kiosks and forecourt POS hardware and will be powered by GK CLOUD4RETAIL technology, according to the release.
The solution will be hardware independent and will help these retailers improve both the customer experience and their own operational efficiencies, the release said.
“Our partnership with Comdata is a game-changer for convenience and truck stop retailers, elevating the customer experience with a single platform providing self-service kiosks, POS, payments and transactions in the forecourt,” GK Vice President of Sales Bill Miller said in the release.
PYMNTS research has found that convenience stores, pharmacy retailers and grocery stores seeking to modernize their in-store payments systems to give consumers more options are prioritizing real-time payments.
Offering the right mix of payment choices is key for merchants seeking to boost customer retention and growth, according to “The Instant Payments Transformation Guide: Grocery, Pharmacy and Convenience Retailers,” a PYMNTS and ACI Worldwide collaboration.
For example, convenience stores have been quicker than other retailers to adopt scan-and-pay solutions. Convenience retail giant 7-Eleven has been offering its own-device mobile checkout for years.
In another recent innovation, P97 Networks and Visa are collaborating on mobile payment offerings for convenience stores. The two companies will work together to debut a variety of connected commerce experiences, such as payment solutions for electric vehicle charging through public networks and fleet charging solutions.
