Uber has expanded its Uber Travel service to 10,000 cities, part of a suite of new services, as the company and its competitors look to diversify their offerings.
The service — now available in all major cities in the United States and Canada — organizes users’ hotel, flight and restaurant reservations by linking travel plans from their Google, Outlook or Hotmail email accounts, according to a Monday (Nov. 14) news release.
“You can reserve rides for your whole itinerary in one fell swoop with Uber Reserve,” Uber Chief Product Officer Sundeep Jain wrote in the release. “And, every ride you reserve through Uber Travel earns 10% back in Uber Cash on your rides or Eats orders.”
Among the company’s other new offerings is a partnership with Viator and OpenTable to offer more tourist attractions, events and restaurants into the Uber Explore feature.
Uber has also expanded its Uber Charter service to more than 20 U.S. cities, letting users book a party bus, coach bus or passenger van through its app or website.
As PYMNTS reported last week, companies like Uber and Doordash have been adding more offerings to their portfolios to differentiate themselves.
DoorDash, for example, announced its collaboration with Sephora to provide deliveries from more than 500 of the beauty brand’s retail stores in the U.S. and Canada.
Uber meanwhile, is expanding its partnership with discount supermarket chain Grocery Outlet, encompassing nearly 400 stores on the East and West coasts.
“The move enables Uber to deliver its cake and eat it too, as it were, catering to the needs of both those who continue to spring for restaurant delivery and those who are looking for more affordable food options as prices rise,” PYMNTS wrote.
By building out their services, aggregators are making their offerings more vital to their customers’ lives, forging deeper relationships that will fuel greater value in the long term.
