Couples tying the knot are already on Amazon. They need wedding shoes, or honeymoon luggage, or they’ve selected the e-commerce giant to host their registry. Now they can find even more at the Handmade Wedding Shop, making Amazon a digital destination for savvy, time-strapped lovebirds.
The Amazon Handmade shop features wedding decorations such as signs, table décor, cake toppers, fake flowers, and confetti; personalized invitations, programs and thank you cards; hand-crafted accessories and jewelry; and gifts and favors for the bridesmaids, groomsmen, and guests.
Couples can now even shop Amazon for unique and artisanal engagement rings or wedding bands. If they never shopped at another store throughout the entire wedding process, they would still find more than enough to suit every possible need or desire.
For young couples, one of the biggest selling points may be that all of these offerings are hand-made, so while they’re certainly shelling out some cash for their big day, at least they can support independent artisans in the process.
“The ability to purchase products from local artisans on the Handmade Wedding Shop offers customers a boutique shopping experience coupled with the convenience and selection of Handmade at Amazon,” said Katie Harnetiaux, Handmade at Amazon.
Sound familiar? Amazon is growing its footprint in the handcrafted market. It first took on the online go-to artisan market Etsy with the Handmade at Amazon shop that launched two years ago. This move into the $300 billion wedding industry comes at a time when Etsy is under pressure to focus more on shareholders and sales.
While some Etsy artists refused to “sell out” by moving their business to Amazon, many found that Etsy was not allowing them the growth they wanted and opted to leverage the greater traffic and visibility offered on Amazon’s virtual shelves.
The introduction of the Handmade Wedding Shop aligns with the four pillars of Amazon’s business: customer obsession, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking.
“From rustic chic, to glitz and glam, the Wedding Shop is a one-stop destination for customers to discover a vast selection of customized products for their big day.”
